Presidential candidate Donald Trump, who is being ridiculed for claiming that he nearly crashed in a helicopter ride with Willie Brown, a former Mayor of San Francisco who is Black, clarified his remarks today at Mar-A-Lago.
“Certain members of the radical leftist press — like Margaret Haberman, who has always had it out for me — are making up one crazy story after another,” Trump said. “They’re quoting Willie Brown, who says he never took a helicopter ride with me — like he would know. They’re saying I confused Willie Brown with Jerry Brown, who used to be Governor of California and who I took a helicopter ride with in 2018. They’re claiming I confused Willie Brown with Nate Holden, this other California politician, also Black, because we were in a helicopter that had an emergency landing in Jersey. Let me read you the headline: ‘A Former California Lawmaker Said Donald Trump Had Mixed Up One Black Politician for Another in His Helicopter Story.’ Lies, all lies, I know it and you know it. I know a lot of Black people. Real Black People, not like Camel-ugh.”
Pressed, Trump admitted that he might have made an error or two in his original Willie Brown helicopter story, which he told at a recent rally after being asked about Brown’s relationship with Kamala Harris, whom he had dated in 1994.
“I know Willie Brown very well, in fact, I went down in a helicopter with him,” Trump had said. “…I mean, I haven’t seen him in years. But he told me some terrible things about her…”
Now Trump acknowledged he had referenced the wrong Black man.
“It had been a tough week, very tough,” Trump said. “I’d seen some polls that suggested I was — what’s the word? — losing. But I’ve had a few days to collect myself and I realize I made a small error: I was with Jimi Hendrix, in 'Nam, when that helicopter went down. It was ‘68. The fighting was fierce. Anyway, between dodging machine gun fire and trying to hear Jimi over the ‘The Ride of the Valykries’ which they were playing, frankly, way too loud, I ask him about Kamala. He told me terrible things about her: Radical, leftist, not really Black. He was not a fan ….
“So, questions…you, the humpback, in the back? Just joking. You wear that hump beautifully. ‘Wasn’t Kamala only four years old at the time?’ Yeah, she was. But Hendrix was a very insightful guy, he could tell. That emergency landing of ours, though, that was something. I’m amazed we were able to walk away. I still have a scar on my ear from it. Let me show you…”
Poor Donny, must have been a bad week for him . He forgot to mention his being on stage at Woodstock. When Jimi paid tribute to his future presidency by playing the Star Spangled Banner.
Excuse me while I kiss this guy!
